With 50% Seats Vacant, AICTE bars new Engineering Colleges for 2 Years

AICTE (The All India Council for Technical Education) the premier body responsible for approval and enlisting of Engineering and Technology colelges in the country, has announced on Feb 13 2020, that there will be no more new Engineering college approvals given, considering the nearly 50% vacany in seat occupancy pan-India in 2019-20.

The total capacity of Engineering and Technology seats is about 2.7million (including UG, Diploma and PG courses). Of these only about 1.3 million seats were taken.
